The following was related to the author by his mother Kathleen (Crow) Coogan:
"My Great Grandfather came from the Isle of Man. He was a tailor by trade and served the King of England. He was honored for his services with a Coat of Arms designed in a form with three legs. He migrated to America and set up shop on Pearl Street in Albany, NY. The Tailor sign over the sidewalk displayed the coat of arms. People referred to him as the "three legged tailor".
An entry in the Albany directory of 1874-77:
· Mrs. Mary Crow, house at 50 Division Street.
William is not mentioned which indicates he died previous to 1874.
William is believed to have been a professional singer who died on stage in Chicago. This has not been researched at this writing.
