Notes for: Jeremiah (A) Quinn

Jeremiah Quinn is the oldest relative of Q. family to be identified as of Feb 11, 2001. The letter (A) has been inserted for ID purposes only since he apparently has no recorded middle name and since the name Jeremiah appears later in the genealogy, again without a middle initial. Place of birth was probably Ballingary or Killatol, Co. Limerick, IRE. Not too far distant was the town of Kilmallock. Also, 1820 is only approximated as birth date. He married Elizabeth Powers, possibly of Ballinea. They had three children: Patrick who went to Australia and thought to have died in the gold diggings there; a second child was Mary Q. who married Patrick (X) Cagney; and John, Sr. who married a Mary Cagney. Out of this latter marriage came seven children one of whom was William who married Annie Guynan in 1899. Most likely Mary was sister to Ellen Cagney Mannix of Charlesville, IRE. whose son became Archbp. Daniel Mannix of Melbourne, Australia. It is possible that Arthur Quinn was a brother to Jeremiah (A) since he is known to have faught in the American Civil War. See #198.
