Notes for: William Quinn
"Will" Quinn was a plumber, initiated into the union April 1890. Little is known about his apprenticeship but it is known that he worked for the Union Plumbing Co., in E. Liberty, located on Penn Ave., near the old Mannsmann dept. store. Since the union was on strike in Pittsburgh, Will went to New Haven Ct. at Yale University to work on the Sheffield Engineering building that was under construction at that time. There he met Bill Marrow (a neighbor to Jim and Mary Troy of Stamford) who took him home for weekend visits. It was then that Will met Annie Guynan. They married in 1899 and took up residence in Pittsburgh.
Aunt May said that her father was a member of the Knights of Labor under Terrence Powderly.
