Notes for: Francis (Frank) Joseph Coogan
Frank Coogan married Mildred Connery at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church, Blackadore Ave, Blackridge PA on June 17, 1929. They
had one child, Mary Jacqueline (Jackie) Coogan who married Larry Ellis, MD. Frank worked with Mr. Fred Proie in the heating business but later
went to Haller's bakery as salesman and supervisor. He was let out of this position during the Depression but moved on to the Prudential
Insurance Co as salesman. During the mid-Forties he again linked up with Proie and together they opened a heating and roofing concern called
Proie/Coogan. Their first shop was located on Penn Avenue in East Liberty and later on Broad St. where they had increased warehouse space.
Their big sales were with the John Zink gas conversion burner (Pgh was converting from coal to gas at this time) and Elaterite Roofing
compound. In 1949 Frank gave young Jack Coogan a fancy Parker pen and pencil set for his graduation from the Univer. of Pgh in 1949.
