Notes for: James Troy

James Troy was employed at superintendent of the Havemeyer estate, "Windy Hill", Palmer Hill, Stemford, Ct. He was apparently an expert farmer and dairyman and as such supervised a relatively large number of hired help. In return he and family were allowed to live on the property in a double house shared at one time by the Marrow's and later by son John. His wife, Mary, was responsible for feedng the hired help, both men and women, and for cleaning their lodgings. Older family members often visited here since their mother, Annie, was sister to Mary. It was thus that the second generation became well acquainted and remained close despite the distance between Connecticut and Pgh.
