Notes for: Mary Cagney
Mary Cagney Quinn died March 18, 1907. Her will dated April 11, 1907 left lots on Lenora St. to Patrick J., who was executor. Household effects were left to to Mary A.and Elizabeth, $300 from real estate. Two years after this date the house at 625 Whittier St., was left to Mary, Elizabeth, John, and Michael. Witness: Wm. J. Ryan, and A.B. Reid.
Mrs. Quinn is probably the sister of William Cagney of Pittsburgh's South Side and it is not unlikely that he sponsored the Quinns when they arrived here. These families maintained a close relationship into the second generation. It is also likely that Mary Quinn was aunt to Archbp. Daniel Mannix of Melbourne, Australia (see text Daniel Mannix by B.A. Santamaria Melbourne University Press, 1984, where reference to the Cagney family can be found on pages 16 and 39).
