MARTIN F. COOGAN, JR. - Pvt. Martin Francis Coogan, jr., who died in action in France on November 18, 1944, and whose body was brought to this country recently, had resided in Rockaway Beach all his life until he left for overseas. His family now lives in Woodside. He was 19 years old, and was a grandson of Robert Barrett of the Beach, who died March 25. He attended Public School 44 and St. Augustine's High School. He was a member of the CYO and for 10 years was an altar boy at St. Rose of Lima Church. On Friday night, the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will hold services at the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home in Beach 84th street, and a requiem mass will be offered Saturday morning in St. Rose of Lima Church. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Pvt. Coogan is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Coogan, and three brothers, Brother Martin of the Order of Irish Christians, Andrew and Thomas. 18 DEC 2001 THOMAS P. COOGAN, FORMER NYFD LIEUTENANT - Thomas P. Coogan was a lifelong resident of the Neponsit area. He passed away on December 17, 2001. Thomas worshipped at St. Francis de Sales Church and was a retired lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus; the Belle Harbor Yacht Club; the 440 Club; and the Local 638 Steamfitters. He is preceded in death by his wife, Anne (nee Gilmartin). He is survived by his wife Joan (nee Martin); his children, Thomas, Mary and Michael Ahearn, Stephen and Karen, and Jill and Jim Nagel; his stepchildren Mickey and Kim Moore, Mark and Lynn Moore, Lynn and Edward Aleman and Tracy Marvin Rivera; and his 12 grandchildren. Donations in Tom’s name may be sent to the Visiting Nurse Hospice Program or the NYFD Burn Unit. 14 JAN 2005 KATHLEEN COOGAN, UNION PENSION DIRECTOR - Kathleen Coogan, a Rockaway resident formerly of Jackson Heights, died on January 11. She was 33. Coogan, who was born in Astoria, was a pension director for Local 74 Service Employees International Union. She is survived by her husband, Michael; parents, Jane and Thomas Connerty; sister, Jennifer Connolly (Evan); and nieces and nephews, Ryan, Emma, Aidan, Margaret, Matthew, Aine and Kevin. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Denis S. O'Connor Funeral Home.
