J. C. COOGAN, 44, DIES IN ST. BONIFACE - Mrs. Kathleen Ada Coogan, 44, wife of James C. Coogan, 70 Horace street, St. Boniface died Tuesday [27 NOV 1956] in St. Boniface Hospital. Funeral service was held Saturday in Mordue's funeral chapel with Rev. J. E. Bethel officiating. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery. [photo; caption: "Mrs. Coogan] 30 MAR 1977 - [PAGE "68"] JAMES (JIMMY) COOGAN - On March 28, 1977, at the St. Boniface General Hospital, Mr. James Coogan, aged 78 years, formerly of 70 Horace St. Norwood. Funeral service will be held Thursday, March 31 at 11:00 a.m. in the Philip Coutu Funeral Chapel, 156 Marion St. with Reverend Canon J. G. Fairclough officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot, Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Coogan was pre- deceased by his wife, Kathleen (nee Gibbs), in 1956. He was born in England, December 13, 1898, coming to Canada in 1922, settling in Winnipeg where he was employed, retiring in 1960. Mr. Coogan served in the First World War with the Imperials and was a prisoner of war. He also served in the Second World War with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. Mr. Coogan was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 43, Norwood St., St. Boniface. John was born March 2, 1988 in Winnipeg, MB and spent the last three years on Vancouver Island. He will be greatly missed by all family and friends. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 1, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, 1000 Allsbrook Rd., Parksville, BC.
