COOGAN - Mrs. Mary M. [sic] Coogan, nee Gacek, 31, of 317 Schenck street, died early today after a lingering illness. She was born in Rome, N. Y., and had lived in North Tonawanda 27 years. She was formerly employed at the Chevrolet plant of General Motors Corporation. She was a member of Ascension church and a former member of the Ladies' Altar Society, the Pine Woods Parent Teachers' Association and the I. W. O. Lodge. Survivors include: Her husband, James John Coogan; three children, James Albert, 9, Judith Ann, 6, and Marilyn, 2; four brothers, John Gacek, Alexander, Walter and Dimitri Chorny, all of North Tonawanda; two sisters, Helen Szewczyk of North Tonawanda and Ann Miller of Niagara Falls; her mother, Mary Chorny. Funeral services will be held at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday from the residence of her mother, 77 Porter Ave., North Tonawanda, and at 9 a.m. from Ascension church, the Rev. Francis J. Hunt officiating. Husband of Regina (nee Gierke) Coogan, father of James A. (Helen) Coogan of Tonawanda, Mrs. Robert (Judith) Foley of Buffalo, Marilyn Kusmierski of Tonawanda, Michael (Linda) Coogan of Grand Island, Mrs. Joseph (Mildred) Wichlacz, Jack (Sharie) Coogan, John (Barbara) Coogan, Mrs. Marc (Regina) Smith and Richard (Pam) Coogan, all of Buffalo, brother of Mary Dumont of Mass.; also survived by 30 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Coogan was a former stationary engineer at the University of Buffalo, a veteran of World War II and a member of Riverside Post No. 1010, American Legion.
