MARY COOGAN - Mrs. Mary Coogan, of 95 Division street, died this morning following a month's illness. Mrs. Coogan was born in Rome, N.Y., and came to this city when a young girl. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Rosary Society of the church. The survivors are a son, William J. Coogan; two daughters, Mrs. Michael Cregg and Mrs. Elizabeth Sauter, all of Amsterdam; three grandchildren and several nieces and newphews. The funeral will be held Friday morning at St. Mary's Church. 14 AUG 1974 - ["Gazette" - PAGE 1] COOGAN RITES TOMORROW AT AMSTERDAM - AMSTERDAM - William J. Coogan Sr., 86, of 47 Lincoln Ave., former Montgomery County democratic chairman, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of this city, Mr. Coogan had served for several years as county Democratic chairman. He has been the owner of Coogan's Grill on East Main Street for more than 25 years. A World War I veteran, he was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians; the Irish-American Club, Bigelow Weavers Association, American Legion Post 701, and the Harold F. Schotte Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. Surviving are a son, William Coogan Jr., Amsterdam; a daughter, Mrs. Mary M. Buckley, Gaiterburg [sic], Md.; four grand- children, also nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 a.m. tomorrow at the Riley Mortuary and at 9:15 at St. Mary's Church. SHANNON - DELMAR - A service will be held for Mrs. Margherita Coogan Shannon, 93, of Kenaware Avenue, who died Sunday [16 AUG 1992] at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany following a long illness. Born in Albany, Mrs. Shannon lived in Delmar for most of her life. She was a member of the Louise Corning Senior Center in Albany. She was married to Henry Coogan until his death and then to Frank Shannon until his death. Survivors include two daughters, Virginia "Jean" Serwanski of Delmar and Sadie Strzesiewski of Albany; three sons, John Coogan of Albany, Robert Coogan of Road Forks, N.M., and Henry Coogan of Revere, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The service will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle in Delmar. Burial will be in Memory's Garden, Colonie. The calling hours will be 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Meyers Funeral Home, 741 Delaware Ave. 24 FEB 1994 - ["Daily Gazette" - PAGE "13"] MARGARET COOGAN - GUILDERLAND - Services will be held for Mrs. Margaret M. Coogan, 92, of Brandywine Parkway, who died Monday at the Northworth Convalescent Center in Worthington, Ohio, after being stricken while visiting relatives. Born in Saugus, Mass., Mrs. Coogan lived in Westchester County for many years before moving to the Capitol Region. She lived in the Berne and Altamont areas before moving to Guilderland. Mrs. Coogan was the manager of the Western Union in New York City. She also worked for the New York state Department of Law, retiring at the age of 87. She was a member of the Father Joseph Boldt Council Columbiettes and was a life member of the Boyd Hilton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Auxiliary in Altamont. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church and a member of its Rosary Society and Senior Citizens. Mrs. Coogan was a widow of James P. Coogan. Survivors include two daughters, Anne M. Whipple of Knox and Margaret Bonderew of Foxboro, Mass.; five sons, Charles O. Coogan of Worthington, James E. Coogan of Guilderland, Bernard J. Coogan of St. Louis, Mo., Girard F. Coogan of Schenectady and Robert E. Coogan of Swansea, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; 34 great- grand-children; and two great-great-grand-daughters. The services will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany, and at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church. Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, during which members of the VFW Post in Altamont will conduct a service at 7. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie.
