"Peg" Coogan, 83, a resident of Davenport, will be 3 p.m. Thursday, July 26, at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to Select Specialty Hospital and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Mrs. Coogan died July 21, 2007, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Margaret Grace Herring was born July 23, 1923, in Mt. Vernon, Iowa, the daughter of Ray and Margie Carpenter Herring. She attended the University of Iowa and later received her RN degree at the former St. Luke's Hospital, Chicago. Peg was united in marriage to James B. Coogan Jr. on Aug. 16, 1947, in Rock Island. He preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2005. Peg was a member of the Moline Public Auxiliary, PEO, Sip 'N Sew, and a longtime member of the Short Hills Country Club and Duck Creek Women's Golf League. She enjoyed the times she spent with family, and she especially cherished her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bowling and traveling. Survivors (and spouses) include her children, Kathleen Coogan, Patrick (Janet) Coogan, both of Bettendorf, James "Dan" (Beth) Coogan, Luxembourg, and Barbara (Dan) Doyle, Westminster, Colo.; grandchildren, Tim (Katherine Venechanos), Sarah, Ben (Jessica), Jessica Coogan, Stephanie and Matthew Lamrouex; a sister, Betty (Uri) Martinez, Sun City, Ariz.; and a brother, Harold Herring, Mt. Vernon. Peg was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her parents; and a brother, Donald "Skip" Herring. Kathy was born January 9, 1949 in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of James Bernard and Margaret Grace (Herring) Coogan. Kathy worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. He was united in marriage to Janet S. Danielson on November 30, 1974 in Fairfield, Iowa. In his high school years, as a Bettendorf Bulldog, Pat lettered in football, basketball, and track, and was co-captain of the football and basketball teams his junior and senior years. Pat played football for the University of Dubuque his freshman year and graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Finance and Business Administration. Pat worked for Deere & Co. for 40 years, retiring in 2013. He was on the Board of Directors at Skills, Inc. He had been the President, Vice President and Secretary of the Wild Eagle Lodge Condo Association as well as a volunteer financial consultant for S.C.O.R.E. He was a house manager for Phi Delta Theta and a member of Muskies, Inc. Pat was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Green Bay Packer, and St. Louis Cardinal fan. He enjoyed spending time muskie fishing, eagle watching and outings on his pontoon boat, MH HOF in Eagle River Wisconsin. Survivors include his wife Janet; children, Tim (Ryann Anderson) Coogan, Lakewood, Colorado and Sarah (Matt Johnston) Coogan, Asheville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Evan and Miles; and siblings, Barbara (Dan) Doyle, Conway, South Carolina, and James "Dan" (Betty) Coogan of Omaha, Nebraska.
