Sam Coogan, ex-Gonzaga dean... 19 SEP 1927 [PAGE 9] (incomplete) JESSIE COOGAN... 25 JUN 1993 [PAGE B-08] DONALD EDWARD COOGAN - A memorial service for Donald Edward Coogan of Northeast Portland will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Calvary Presbyterian Church. Mr. Coogan died of congestive heart failure Tuesday (22 JUN 1993) in his residence. He was 82. He was born June 9, 1911, in Colville, Wash., and attended Washington State University. He married Elinore Janet Crowley in 1935 and moved to Portland in 1940. Mr. Coogan served as a captain with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II. He worked as an electrical engineer for the Bonneville Power Administration and an engineer for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation. Among other projects, he helped build the Grand Coulee Dam. He retired in 1973. In addition to his wife, survivors include his sons, John C. of Fairfield, Calif., and Ross T. of Federal Way, Wash.; his daughter, Elaine Winelle Lord of Lake Oswego; his sisters, Winifred Vanderhoff of Plains, Mont., and Dorothy Morgan of Yakima; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the American Heart Association. Interment will be in Willamette National Cemetery. 16 JUN 2002 [PAGE B-06] ELINORE COOGAN BOW - A memorial service will be at 1:30 pm Sunday, June 30, 2002, in St. Anne's Chapel in Marylhurst University [Portland, OR] for Elinore Coogan Bow, who died June 2 at age 88. Elinore Crowley was born Feb. 1, 1914, in Attalia, Wash. A graduate of Washington State College, she moved in 1940 to Portland, where she taught piano and organ out of her home for 50 years. She was named Composer of the Year by the Oregon Music Teachers Association in 1980. She was organist and pianist for Calvary Presbyterian Church and sang in its choir. She moved to Port Orchard, Wash., in 1996 and spent summers in Green Valley, Ariz. In 1935, she married Donald Coogan; he died in 1993. She married Bob Bow in 1996. Survivors include her husband; sons, John Coogan and Ross Coogan; daughter, Elaine Lord; brother, Ward Crowley; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. COOGAN - A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2003, in All Saints' Episcopal Church in Portland for Georgia E. Coogan, who died Dec. 24, 2002, at age 89. Miss Coogan was born Nov. 2, 1913, in Sumas, Wash., and moved in the early 1930s to Portland. She was a receptionist and PBX operator for Cenex Co. Survivors include her brother, Lawrence E.; and sister, Jessie W. Miller. Remembrances to the church. Arrangements by Wilhelm. 28 MAR 2003 HORTENSE A. COOGAN - Hortense A. Coogan died March 12, 2003, at age 97. Hortense A. Pierce was born July 18, 1905 in Oakley, Kan. She moved in 1954 to Portland and was a sales associate for Meier & Frank. In 1966, she married Lawrence E. Survivors include her husband; and daughter, Shirley Hiestand. No service. Arrangements by Hennessey, Goetsch & McGee. 05 APR 2009 LAWRENCE E. COOGAN, 103, 06/23/1905 - 03/26/2009. He was born in Mission, B.C. Lawrence worked as a bookkeeper. He is survived by his sister, Jessie Miller and niece, Sheri Kendall. The service is private.
