JOHN COOGAN III - John "Shannon" Coogan III, 58, of Las Vegas, a 
retired master plumber, passed away July 24, 2012.  He was born 
July 28, 1953, in Albuquerque, N.M., and was a 56-year resident of 
Nevada.  Shannon graduated from Western High School in 1971 and 
from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1975.  He was employed by 
Hansen Mechanical Contractors for 26 years.  His favorite pastime 
was hunting and being outdoors.  He was able to accomplish his dream 
of two hunting safari trips to South Africa.  Shannon is survived by 
his wife, Karen Coogan; parents, Jack and Betty Coogan; sister, 
Sharon Coogan; daughters, Tearsa and Johnna Coogan; grandson, Miles 
Coogan; and his grand-children, Braxton, Brody, Brecken, Erin, 
Allison and Rebecca Kooser; as well as many other family members 
and loved ones. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m., Monday, July 
30, at Canyon Ridge Christian Church, 6200 Lone Mountain Road. His
family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his honor 
to either the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society www.lls.org/waystohelp 
or Best Friends Animal Society http://www.bestfriends.org/index.htm

BETTY COOGAN - Betty Coogan passed away December 3, 2017, Las 
Vegas. She was born Aug. 18, 1930, in Crane, Texas. Betty graduated 
from the University of New Mexico in 1953. She received a master's 
degree from University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Betty lived in Las 
Vegas since 1955. She worked for the Clark County School District 
for 30 years, first as a teacher and later as a school counselor. 
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ferris and Vera Byerly; 
sister, Elton Kern; and son, John Shannon Coogan III. Betty is 
survived by her husband, of 65 years, Jack Coogan; daughter, Sharon 
Coogan; granddaughters, Tearsa and Johnna Verdi; great-grandson, 
Miles Coogan; brother, Clifford Byerly; and numerous cousins. 
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 16, at Davis Funeral 
Home, 1400 S. Rainbow Blvd., Las Vegas, NV 89146. In lieu of 
flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.

JOHN SHANNON "JACK" COOGAN (1928-2020) - John "Jack" Shannon Coogan, 
Jr., 91, passed away on August 2, 2020. Jack was born September 29, 
1928 in North Hampton, Massachusetts. Jack was a Marine Corps 
Veteran, graduated from the University of New Mexico, where he met 
his wife Betty. Together they moved to Las Vegas in 1954, when he 
became employed at the Nevada Test Site, then retired from the 
Environmental Protection Agency. Preceded in death by his wife of 
66 years, Betty, and his son Shannon. Survived by his daughter 
Sharon, granddaughters Johnna (Chris), Tearsa (Jennifer), great 
grandson Miles, his breakfast club, many friends, and loved ones. 
The family would like to thank Giving Home Healthcare and Spring 
Mountain Rehabilitation for their care and support.  Services will 
be held at a later date.,
