MARY E. COOGAN DIES IN NEW HAVEN - NEW HAVEN, July [9] - Mrs. Mary E. Coogan, wife of James E. Coogan, assistant superintendent of parks in charge of the recreation division and nationally known football and basketball, died at [11:30] o'clock last night in the Hospital of St. Raphael. She 64 years old. Mrs. Coogan was taken suddenly ill at [1:30] p.m Saturday in her home and was removed to the [hos]pital when she did not respond to treatment. Death [was apparently] due to a stroke. The funeral will take place from the family residence Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and at St Joseph's church at 9 o'clock, where a solemn requiem high Mass will [be said]. COOGAN - Warner Brothers Executive Found Dead of Gunshot Wound [photo; caption "Dies in Fairfield" and "HENRY P. COOGAN"] - Services will be conducted tomorrow for Henry P. Coogan, 54, of 340 Verna Hill road, Fairfield, senior vice president of the Warner Brothers company, who was found dead last night in the basement of a stable at his home. The services will take place at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, Southport, with the Rev. Francis X. Cheney, rector, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Dr. Stanton R. Smith, medical examiner, said death was caused by a "self inflicted wound in the head." A .38 caliber revolver was found near the body according to Detective Stephen Zadrovitz, of the Fairfield Police department. Mr. Coogan was born in New York city and attended the Bronxville, N.Y., public schools. He graduated from the Sheffield Scientific School of Yale University in 1937 and served as a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Mr. Coogan joined Warner Brothers in 1938 and was elected to the board of directors in 1953. In May, 1963, he was appointed president of the Warner Slimwear Lingerie division of Warner Brothers. - Promoted Last Year - In April, 1964, Mr. Coogan was elected senior vice-president in charge of the women's apparel divisions of Warner Brothers, and to executive committee of the board of directors. As senior vice- president in charge of women's apparel divisions, Mr. Coogan was responsible for the Warner Slimwear Lingerie division, the Slimwear International operations and the Lady Hathaway Sports-wear division.
