Coogan, 73, of Mount Pulaski died at 5:06 p.m. yesterday (Sept. 20, 1990) at his home. He was taken to Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln. 22 SEP 1990 - [PAGE B7] MOUNT PULASKI - The Funeral Of John J. Coogan, 73, Mount Pulaski, will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Church, Lincoln. The Rev. Jerome Pilon will officiate. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln, with full military rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, with the rosary recited at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Coogan died at 5:06 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 20, 1990) at his home. He was born May 16, 1917, in Springfield, a son of James and Regina Zimmerman Coogan. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Feldman on July 7, 1945, in Douglas, Ariz. Survivors include one son, Steven, Latham; three daughters, Cathy Darter, Deborah Soloman and Denise Coogan, all of Lincoln; three sisters, Jane Richmond, Lincoln; and Regina Donalen and Rosemarie Coogan, both of Springfield; and seven grandchildren. One daughter, two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Mr. Coogan had been a meat cutter in the Lincoln area for many years and had been employed at Coogan Food Locker, Mount Pulaski. He also had been employed for 27 years at Kroger Co. in Lincoln, retiring in 1976. He was a member of St. Thomas Acquinas Church, Mount Pulaski; past post commander of American Legion Post 263, Lincoln; currently a member of American Legion Post 447, Mount Pulaski; a life member of the Moose Lodge, Lincoln; and a member of Amalgamated Meat Cutters Union. He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the Army Air Corps. Coogan, 90, of Lincoln, a retired school teacher, died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday (Jan. 5, 1995) at The Christian Village in Lincoln. Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Fricke- Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln, Marianna Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Lincoln. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 4, 1905, at Fairmount, Mo., a daughter of Elija Lee and Ardella Bailey Henry. She married James A. Coogan May 28, 1938, at Kirksville, Mo. He died April 9, 1967. Survivors include one son, David L. Coogan, Lincoln; and one daughter, Margaret Blanford, Lincoln; one sister, Louwilla Henry, Lincoln; and one grandchild. Mrs. Coogan taught at Lincoln College, Lincoln Developmental Center, and schools in District 27. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln, where she was a former Deacon; Delta Sigma Epsilon; Logan County Retired Teachers; and the American Association of Retired Persons. Monsignor Norman Goodman will officiate. Burial will be in Steenbergen Cemetery, rural Mount Pulaski. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Mr. Coogan died at 12:55 p.m. Monday (May 1, 1995) at his home. The coroner's office is investigating. No foul play is suspected. He was born May 25, 1955, in Lincoln, the son of James F. and Edith Heinzel Coogan. Survivors include his mother, Lincoln; two sisters, Colleen Cyrulik, Mount Pulaski, and Kathleen Wilham, Shelbina, Mo.; and one brother, Jim "Jim Boy," Mount Pulaski. His father preceded him in death. Mr. Coogan was a meat cutter for Publix Grocery Chain, Stuart, Fla., for 10 years. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, Mount Pulaski. He was a graduate of Mount Pulaski High School.
