He was born in Rahway, NJ and moved to this area in 1952 from New Jersey. He was a city sales manager for National Airlines for 34 years the later director of tourism for Pinellas County for 10 years. He was a civilian aircraft inspector for the Navy during WWII. He was president of St. Petersburg Jaycees, vice-president of St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce and president of Suncoast Traffic Club. He was a member of St. Petersburg Advertising Club, Suncoast Travel Industry Association and St. Petersburg Kiwanis Club. Mr. Sheeley is a current member of the Tampa Bay Skal Club and the St. Petersburg Elks Club #1224. Mr. Sheeley was a founding member and chairman of the Oldtimers baseball games for the March of Dimes from 1956 through 1980. He was a founding member of the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle where he was an usher for over 25 years. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia M. Sheeley of St. Petersburg, a daughter, Barbara Wessel of St. Petersburg, FL, a brother, Brother Robert J. Sheeley of Sayreville, NJ, and a sister, Patricia Cygler of Colonia, NJ, a granddaughter, Patricia DeCesare of Clearwater, FL and a great grandson, Dominic DeCesare of Clearwater, FL.
