USMC Beloved Husband, Father, Brother Robert O. Coogan, age 71, of the Grant's Creek Community died Oct. 7, 2008, at home after a lengthy illness. Born in Marilla, N.Y., Aug. 19, 1937 he was the oldest child of the late Owen Joseph Coogan and Jenny Arlene Schwartz. He resided in the Jacksonville area for the last 50 years, staying in the area after his retirement in 1985 as a master sergeant from the U.S. Marine Corps. The funeral will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at Jones Funeral Home at 11 a.m., burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veteran Cemetery with military honors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Owen J. and Jenny "Arlene" both of Marilla, N.Y.; and an infant brother, Johnny. He is survived by his wife, Rosella Joyce of the home; three sons and a daughter, Robert Joseph of Greenville, Keith Owen (Roberta) of Jacksonville, Karen Lawrence of Jacksonville and Michael Ray (Judy) of Winterville; three stepsons, James Jon (Tonya) Disorbo of Garner, Charles Elwin (Teresa) Disorbo of Jacksonville and Michael Alan Disorbo of Norfolk, Va.; three sisters, Linda Coogan of Alden, N.Y., Donna Fox of Darien Center, N.Y., and Mary (David) VanOrnum of Alden, N.Y.; 14 grandchildren; four nieces and nephews in the Alden area; seven grand-nieces and nephews; and one great-grand- child.
