[PA], [14 ?] FEB 2010): FUNERALS MICHAEL COOGAN - The funeral of Michael Coogan, war veteran, took place Tuesday morning from his late home at Silver Creek. A solemn requiem mass was celebrated at Holy Family Church by Rev. Edw. Gatens, celebrant; Rev. James Scott, deacon; and Rev. Lawrence Murphy, sub-deacon. The rites of absolution were given by Rev. Gatens who also officiated at the committal service in the parish cemetery. It was a military funeral with the services in charge of the New Philadelphia Post of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Spanish-American War Veterans. The military service at the grave was conducted by George R. Kalbach, John C. Phillips, Gus Dunheimer, Harry Geanslen and Al Schuyler of the Spanish War Veterans of Foreign Wars. The firing squad was composed of the following: Edw. Putlavage, Michael Yeager, Paul Babcock, Edw. Stutz and Vincent Smith. The color guards under command of Sgt. Maj. John Flannery were Jas. Edwards, Matthew Krebs and Victor Elenausky. The bugler was Frank O'Neil. The pall bearers were: Patrick Kelly, John Martin, Owen Langton, Dick Edwards, James Berrang and Vincent Norris.
