Coogan, 92, of Brandywine Parkway, died Monday in Worthington, Ohio, where she was stricken while visiting her son Charles. Mrs. Coogan was born in Saugus, Mass., and lived in Westchester County for many years before moving to the Capital District, where she lived in Berne, Altamont and Guilderland. Mrs. Coogan was a manager for Western Union in New York City. About 15 years ago, after her 65th birthday, she went to work part time at the state Department of Law. "She did filing and got papers ready," said Deborah Degan, her oldest granddaughter. "She worked in the department where they do student loans." Mrs. Coogan did clerical work at the department for about 10 years. "She was just a person who liked to work," Mrs. Degan said. "She didn't have many hobbies." She said her grandmother had loved to travel and visit various senior citizen groups, and her health held up until very near the end of her life. "Up until a few months ago, she was still living in her own apartment, getting out to church and stuff," Mrs. Degan said. She was a communicant of Christ the King Church in Guilderland, and was a member of the Rosary Society and the Senior Citizens there. She was a member of the Fr. Joseph Boldt Council Columbiettes and a life member of the auxiliary of Boyd Hilton Post, VFW, in Altamont. She was the widow of the late James P. Coogan. Survivors include two daughters, Anne M. Whipple of Knox and Margaret (Peg) Bonderew of Foxboro, Mass.; five sons - Charles O. Coogan of Worthington, James E. Coogan of Guilderland, Bernard J. Coogan of St. Louis, Mo., Girard F. Coogan of Schenectady and Robert E. Coogan of Swansea, Mass.; 25 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grand- daughters; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday morning at the Hans Funeral Home, 1088 Western Ave., Albany and 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church, Sumpter Ave., Guilderland. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home tomorrow between 4 and 8 p.m. Members of the Boyd Hilton auxiliary will assemble at the funeral home for a 7 p.m. service tomorrow.
