http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 25 October 2011 Obituary of Kathryn (Karibalis) Coogan ___________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "Sawyer County Record" [Hayward, WI], 31 MAR 2004): [COOGAN] Kathryn Karabalis Coogan, 88, of Hayward, died March 28 at her residence in Hayward. She was born Feb. 19, 1916, in Baker, N.D., the daughter of Gus and Karen (Hagen) Karibalis. She married Francis Burke Coogan. After earning her teaching degree, she began her long career with the Hayward School District in 1946. She taught eighth grade English and retired in 1980. She loved collecting antiques and tending to her flower garden, she enjoyed her friends, colorful fashion, and socializing at Karibalis Restaurant. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hayward. She is survived by one son, Michael (Joanette) Coogan of Oconomowoc; one brother, Curtis Karibalis of Hayward; two grand- children: Ryan and Cullen Coogan; one sister, Inez (George) Rehnstrand of Hayward; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Francis and a sister Judy Kahman. Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 1 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Bill Green officiating. Visitation: At the church for one hour prior to the service. Interment: A private interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Hayward. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Hayward Carnegie Library, P.O. Box 917, Hayward, WI 54843.
