Obituary of Jesse W. H. Coogan

JESSE W. H. COOGAN

MYSTIC - Jesse W. H. Coogan, 66, a loving gentleman has now
entered into eternal rest on April 10, 2007.  He is the son of
Clara Morgan Coogan and Clarence Coogan of Village Farm, Mystic.
He attended Broadway School in Mystic.  He had worked at the
Mystic Bowling Alley next to the Modern Grill.  He was an avid
collector and assembler of models and also collected and enjoyed
music albums.  As a young man he was a fixture in downtown Mystic
with his ever present pipe.  His greatest passion was his long
time membership in the Boy Scouts of America with his fondest
memory of his trip to Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New 
Mexico in 1958.  His brother Clarence Coogan Jr. remembered Jesse
as a young man who had an interest in reading and had an 
outstanding vocabulary.  He was a sensitive young man who 
responded well to kindness and attention.  In spite of his 
handicaps, when he was about 15 he rode his bicycle to Lawrence
& Memorial Hospital to visit my wife who was so loved by him.

He is survived by his brother Clarence Coogan Jr. of Mystic, two
sisters [sic], Frances [should be Francis, brother] Coogan of 
Pearl, Mississippi and Ellen Marshall of Old Mystic, cousins
Henry Coogan of Voluntown and Walter Morgan of Brookings, South
Dakota, many nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to
Connecticut River Council Boy Scouts of America, P.O. Box 280098,
East Hartford, CT 06128.  Funeral services will be private, burial
will be in the family lot at Elm Grove Cemetery in Mystic.  The
Mystic Funeral Home, RT 1, Mystic is in charge of arrangements.
