John R., killed in action in Korea on Oct. 6, beloved husband of Pearl, devoted son of Margaret C. and the late Dr. William J. Coogan and dear brother of Robert F. Coogan. ___________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "Brooklyn Eagle" [NY], 19 DEC 1951, PAGE 13): LT. JOHN R. COOGAN FUNERAL SERVICES HELD AT LEVITTOWN - Mass was said this morning in St. Bernard's R. C. Church, Levittown, for Lt. John R. Coogan of the 1st Cavalry Division. Burial took place at the Pinelawn National Cemetery. Lieutenant Coogan, whose home was 46 Rainbow Lane, Levittown, was wounded, somewhere in Korea, on Oct. 3 and died three days later. Born in Brooklyn 28 years ago he was educated at Our Lady of Victory Grammar School, Loughlin High School and Fordham University, from which he was graduated in 1947. During World War II Lieutenant Coogan was a staff sergeant in the Air Force, serving on B-29s in India. After the conflict he was professionally a representative of the J. P. Lippincott Company, publishers. He was recalled to active duty with the Army as a 2d Lieutenant in October, 1950, and promoted to 1st Lieutenant on the field in June of this year. Lieutenant Coogan is survived by his wife, Mrs. Pearl A. Coogan; his mother, Mrs. William J. Coogan of Forest Hills, and his brother, Robert F.
