Obituary of Henry C. Coogan

HENRY C. COOGAN

Henry C. Coogan, CWO, retired, 85, of Fayetteville died Tuesday, 
April 13, 2004, at Butterfield Trail Village.  He was born Jan. 
5, 1919, in Bordeaux, France, the son of Harry L. and Elizabeth 
Germaine Mian Coogan.

He retired from the U.S. Army in 1963 and from the University of 
Arkansas as security chief.  He was a volunteer at the Veterans 
Affairs Medical Center for more than 20 years.  He was a member 
of the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 3, the American Legion, 
Shelton-Tucker Post 27, the Fraternal Order of Police, the 
National Order of Trench Rats, the Retired Officers Association, 
the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 2722 and St. John's Lutheran 
Church.  He was awarded the Commendation Medal with Cluster, 
Good Conduct Medal with two clusters, Pre-Pearl Harbor Medal, 
Pacific-Asiatic Medal with three Bronze Stars, the American 
Defense Medal, National Defense Service Medal, two Meritorious
Unit Citations, Korean Service Medal with four Bronze Stars, the 
U.N. Service Medal, Philippine Independence (from Philippine 
Army), the Philippine Presidential Citation, the Korean 
Presidential Citation, Victory Medal-Occupation Medal.

He moved to Fayetteville in 1963.

He is survived by his wife, Inger O. Coogan, of the home; one 
son, Michael Edward Coogan of Little Rock.; two daughters, 
Barbara Ellen Oldham of Bartlesville, Okla., and Deborah 
Elizabeth Coogan of Edmond, Okla.; a grandson, Jamee R. Oldham 
of Fort Smith; a great-grandson, Collin Nicholas Oldham of Fort 
Smith.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 16, at St. 
John's Lutheran Church in Fayetteville under the direction of 
Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.  The Rev. Roger Schoolcraft 
will officiate.

Burial will be in National Cemetery in Fayetteville. - Paid
