Coogan _____________________________________________________________________ (extracted from "Easton Journal" [MA], 12 NOV 2011): EDWARD COOGAN Edward J. Coogan, age 95, of Easton, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, Nov. 10, 2011. He was the devoted and loving husband of the late Marion (Mattoon) Coogan. Beloved father of Tracey Alfieri, her husband Alex and loving grandfather to their children Matthew, Alexandra and the late Miles Alfieri. Beloved father of Carole Jenks and her husband Lynn. Loving brother of Paul Coogan, his wife Marian and many nieces and nephews. Born in Rochester, NY., in 1916, Ed was a Golden retiree of Eastman Kodak Company having worked there 50 years. A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy. Eds passion was his Lionel train collection. At one time he was the President of the Rochester Chapter of the Railway Historical Society. He enjoyed riding the rails and participating in several model train shows. He moved with his wife to Easton 15 years ago to be closer to their daughter and family. He loved watching his favorite sports teams and quickly realized that it was not favorable to wear his beloved NY Yankees jacket around town. He quickly and begrudgingly gave up being a New York Yankees fan and embraced the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots as his new favorite teams. Affectionately known as the Ol Crow" by all who knew him, he will be remembered for his sharp humor, generosity, strong spirit and love of a good manhattan and cigar. His family would like to thank Brenda Sabin and Jeanette Hokanson for their devoted caregiving which allowed him to live at home and enjoy his life to the fullest. Relatives and friends were respectfully invited to attend visiting hours Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 605 Washington St., (Rte.138), Easton, followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Rochester, New York. In lieu of flowers donations in Eds memory may be sent to Guardian Hospice & Palliative Care, 1214 Park St., Suite 203, Stoughton, MA. 02072.
