Obituary of Carleton E. Coogan

OBITUARY

AUSTIN - The funeral for Carleton E. Coogan will be at 1:30 p.m.
Saturday at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary Chapel in Austin with the
Rev. George Toschak officiating.  Burial will be in Grandview
Cemetery in Austin.

Mr. Coogan, 79, of 1707 Second Ave., S.E., a retired Hormel
Foods Corp. employee, died Monday (Aug. 4, 1997) in Madison,
Wis.  He was born July 25, 1918.  On May 10, 1947, he married
Myrtel Keyser in Faribault, Minn.  Mr. Coogan retired from
Hormel in 1975.  He was a member of Fellowship United Methodist
Church, and the VFW and American Legion.  He enjoyed fishing.

Survivors include a son, William "Bill" of West Bend, Wis.;
four daughters, Jean (Mrs. Dale) Heath of Kodiak, Alaska,
Doriene Coogan of Tranquility, N.J., Carliene Coogan of West
Allis, Wis., and Jan Coogan of Altoona, Wis.; seven grand-
children; six great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Dory
Krueger, Lucy Gnada and Mary Klingfus, all of Austin, and Myrt
Peterson of Blooming Prairie.  He was preceded in death by his
wife, two brothers, a sister and a grandson.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and an hour before
the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to Grandview Cemetery.
