COOGAN SR July 24, 1919 - May 23, 2011 [photo] Charles Edward Coogan Sr., 91, of Clearwater, Florida, went home to be with Our Lord on Monday, May 23, 2011, peacefully from his home. He was the loving husband of Dors T. (Loiselle) Coogan for 64 years. Born in Belfast, Ireland on July 24, 1919, he was one of nine children of the late Francis X. Coogan and Margaret (Lahey) Coogan. Charlie was a resident of Clearwater for 30 plus years. He was raised in Kearny, New Jersey and retired from Bendix Corporation in 1978. He was an active member of Light of Christ Catholic Church for the past 30 years. His Catholic faith and his family were very important to him. He will always be remembered for his quick Irish wit and love of life. He was an avid Golfer, Bowler, with a passion for most sports. Charlie served in the Army/Air Force during World War II as an airplane mechanic gunner and was honorably discharged in March 1946. Besides his devoted wife, he is survived by four daughters, Marie Pryce of Clearwater, Eileen (Bruce) Groncki of Franklin, Ma.; Kathleen (Paul) Ciani if Fort Mill, S.C.; Ann (Thomas) Garvey of Palmetto, Florida and one son, Charles Edward (Diana) Coogan Jr. of Safety Harbor, FL. He is survived by eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Gerald Coogan of Clearwater. Relatives and friends are invited to attend hi Funeral Mass on Saturday, June 4th, at 11 AM at Light of Christ Catholic Church, 2176 Marilyn Street, Clearwater, Florida.
