OIL CITY — Betty Jean Coogan, 74, of Red Coach Manor, Oil City, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002, at the Oil City Presbyterian Home. She was born April 19, 1928, in Wyandotte, Mich., daughter of the late Harry and Leah Collins Reid. She was raised in Ohio. She was most recently a homemaker. She worked for 10 years at Polk Center until a disability forced her to retire. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and watching soap operas. She was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Seliskar; three brothers; and two sisters. Survivors include her husband, Francis Coogan, whom she married Feb. 13, 1960; five sons, Richard Weese of Cleveland, William Weese of Sharon, Robert Seliskar of Tampa, Fla., Michael Coogan and his wife, Marsha, of Chesapeake, Va., and Jim Coogan and his wife, Traci, of Oil City; two daughters, Jackie Eaton and her husband, Richard, of Seneca, and Kim Berry and her husband, Tom, of Oil City; a brother, James Reid of Painesville, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Friends may call Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reinsel Funeral Home, Oil City. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady, Help of Christians Catholic Church in Oil City, by Monsignor Robert Smith, the vicar general of the Erie Catholic Diocese. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Oil City.
