The body was recovered on the following day at the foot of Forbes-street. According to the evidence of a little boy named James Wilson, Coogan was playing in a boat, which was moored to the wharf. The deceased lost his balance and fell in. The witness Wilson told Coogan to catch hold of some spikes on the pile, but this Coogan was unable to do, and sank. Witness went home and refrained from telling anyone of this occurrence, giving as his reason for not doing so that he was afraid he would get into trouble for going near the water. A finding of accidental death was returned. http://trove.nla.gov.au ______________________________________________________________________
