http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 20 February 2009 COOGAN story appearing in "New York Times" (14 MAY 1871, PAGE ?): A few days ago a man named COOGAN, residing in Orange, came on a visit with his son to a relation of his in Jersey City, named COLLINS. He sneaked home without his boy. COLLINS gave him money to follow his father, but when he arrived in Orange he could not find him. The poor boy found his way back to Jersey City, but COLLINS considering himself unable to support him, surrendered him to the care of the Police authorities yesterday.
