COOGAN story

appearing in "Brooklyn Eagle" (09 AUG 1889):

Patrick Coogan, a laborer, was to-day adjudged insane by a jury in 
Part I, General Sessions, New York, and committed to the State 
Hospital for the Insane at Poughkeepsie.  On July 10 last he tried 
to kill his wife with a hatchet.  He had endeavored to accomplish 
this feat on several other occasions, and his wife concluded that he 
was suffering from insanity.
