http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 02 September 2012 COOGAN story ____________________________________________________________________ appearing in "Miami Metropolis" [FL], 30 AUG 1907: MICHAEL COOGAN, INJURED BY TRAIN DIED HERE IN EXTENSION HOSPITAL From Thursday's Daily: A white man believed to be one Michael Coogan, of New York, was run over by an engine and three cars about 8 o'clock last night near the intersection of Ninth street, and injured to such an extent that he died in the railroad hospital at 2 o'clock this morning. Just how the accident occurred is not known, except that Coogan was on the railroad track and apparently did not see or hear the approaching train. His injury consisted of a crush in the skull of the right ear, and slight mash of one heel. He never gained consciousness after being struck. An identification card and letters found in his pocket lend to the belief that his name was Michael Coogan, a plumber, twenty-nine years of age, of New York City. About [$45] in money was found on his person. No inquest was held. The body is now in the possession of the undertaker King, and will be held a reasonable length of time awaiting information from the wife of deceased in New York. Coogan was probably an extension laborer who had either quit or been discharged from the works. http://ufdc.ufl.edu ____________________________________________________________________
