http://www.cooganresearchgroup.com/crg/index.htm 09 February 2014 COOGAN story ______________________________________________________________________ appearing in "Sydney Morning Herald" [NSW, Australia], 25 FEB 1942, PAGE 11: MAN FOUND IN LANE DIES Peter Joseph Coogan, 40, single, who lived in Marion Street, Auburn, died in St. Joseph's hospital on Monday [23 FEB 1942]. The cause of his death was a fractured skull. At 10 o'clock on Saturday night Coogan was found by a soldier and a civilian lying on in a lane at the rear of the Civic Theatre, Auburn. The soldier, believing that he was ill, took him home in a taxi-cab. On Sunday he became unconscious, and doctor ordered his removal to hospital. Detective Perry, of Auburn, would like to get in touch with the soldier and civilian who found Coogan in the lane, and also a man who identified Coogan. Police believe that they acted humanely in taking him home.
