Coogan of the New York Central lines leaves next week for a two week's vacation in New York, Boston and on the ocean, he isn't happy, and it's all because of a cruel joker. After reading Dr. F. O. Donohue's desciption of the famous lark pudding at the old Cheshire Cheese in London, Engineman Thomas Tighe of Schenectady thought it would be appropriate to send Mr. Coogan a box of game in order that he might enjoy an aristocratic meal on the eve of his vacation. The box as received by Mr. Coogan was large and carefully wrapped. With it was a note explaining that Mr. Tighe had just returned from a successful hunt and he took pleasure in sending it Mr. Coogan a mess of lark. It was a hard matter to find the lark. After removing a cartload, more or less, of wrapping paper Mr. Coogan found one sparrow. He said things and laid the whole deal to Tom Pike. Whether Pike had anything to do with it or not is as yet unknown. Tighe declares that he had a sufficient number of birds in the box to make Mr. Coogan a fine pudding, and now the night station master is looking for the man who robbed the box. Tighe says that there is no reason why the sparrow pudding cannot be made as popular in America as the lark pudding in England. Pike spent a long time last night explaining to Mr. Coogan all about the larks of England. He told him that they always fly high, are very plentiful and make choice eating. The fact that they are choice eating appealed to Mr. Coogan more than anything else. He is strong on eating. ____________________________________________________________________
