The boy, who was poorly clad, was shivering from cold and complained of an injury to his left foot. At the stationhouse he informed the sergeant that he had been brutally beaten by a woman who had been acting as his guardian and with whom he had lived since the death of his parents, some years ago and that the injury to his foot had been caused by a blow from a broom stick. The police turned over the case to Agent Meyer of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, who will investigate and make a report to Magistrate Lemon in the Ewen Street Police Court to-morrow. _________________________________________________________________
