Research:

This is the family of Martin Coogan.  He was born in Ireland and 
emigrated to the United States in the mid Nineteenth Century.  It
appears that he settled in Kingston (Ulster County), New York 
before moving his small family to Westfield (Staten Island, 
Richmond County), New York.

Martin's grand-sons, Peter Coogan II and James Edward Coogan, 
later moved to New Jersey.  

This family has also been found as COGAN.
