He was born in Ireland and emigrated to the United States in the mid Nineteenth Century. We are not certain of the early history of this family, but it appears that William maintained a farm near the foothills on the road leading to Coral Hollow (canyon in Alameda County and San Joaquin County), California. A notice in "Sacramento Daily Union" (20 MAR 1879) described how he passed away after being thrown by his horse. The remaining members of this family were listed in the 1880 US Census in San Joaquin County. They later moved to Alameda County. We are currently looking for someone to link with this family and to take over the search! ************************** 01. [ male01 ] COOGAN Children of [ male01 ] Coogan: 02.
